What are your COVID-19 policies?
As of March 7, 2022, the City of Columbus
has lifted its indoor mask mandate, so masks are no longer required for
customers. If you would prefer our staff members to wear masks while
you are here, we will be happy to do so. We are still thoroughly cleaning
the simulator cockpit throughout the day.
Do I need to make an appointment?
Almost always yes. We have a full flight
schedule almost every day, and we are usually fully booked in advance.
When we have unexpected openings, we are happy to accomodate walk-in
customers, but such openings are very rare. If you are only available on
short notice, contact us to be put on our “standby list” and
we will contact you in case of a cancellation.
What time should I arrive for my experience?
Please arrive ten minutes before
your scheduled time, so you have time to check in and discuss what you
hope to get out of your experience with our staff before an
on–schedule takeoff!
What if I arrive early?
Come in and check if we can start
your flight session early! Unlike the real airlines, we're
more often ahead of schedule than behind.
Do I have to start with the Introductory Flight Package?
No, there is no “progression“
between our flight packages, they are all accessible to first-timers
and repeat customers alike. The Intro Flight is intended for
customers who are on a tight budget, or uncertain if they will
enjoy the experience enough to be worth the cost of a longer
flight package.
What is the difference between the Thrill and Adventure Flight packages?
The two major differences are time
(the Adventure Flight is 20 minutes longer) and customizability.
Every Thrill Flight goes from Dayton, Ohio (KDAY) to Columbus,
Ohio (KCMH). Our staff members are very familiar with this route,
so we can be sure we can fit a full flight from take-off to landing
into the 30 minute experience. The longer time limit of the
Adventure Flight allows us to be more flexible and fly wherever
you want. Nearly every airport in the world with a long enough runway
is available to us, so long as we can get from the origin
to the destination within the time limit. Scenic routes through
mountain ranges or along coastlines are popular choices,
and some more experienced pilots like to try famously difficult
landings such as Key West, Innsbruck, or the river visual approach
at Reagan National in Washington, DC.
Do I need to know anything about flying?
No experience is needed, there will
be a staff member in the co-pilot's seat coaching you
for the duration of your flight. We are here for the general
public. We want you to have a great experience while learning
something new.
Is this suitable for an experienced pilot?
Yes! We frequently have current
and former private pilots enjoy our simulator, and we have
even had a few commerical pilots come in. Our staff can tailor
your flight to any level of prior knowledge and experience.
Is there a minimum age to use the flight simulator?
Yes. Children and teens 12 years
of age and older can enjoy the experience (also check our height
restrictions). A parent or guardian must accompany anyone under
the age of 18. The Ultimate Flight package may be too long for
children under 15 years of age, but if you feel your child has
enough enthusiasm for aviation to enjoy the full experience,
we will be more than happy to accommodate your request.
Please remember that the simulator is not a toy or video game,
so participants must be able to respond to instructions.
Are there height restrictions?
There are no formal restrictions.
However, customers under 5'0'' may have difficulty
seeing the screen and reaching some of the instruments, and
customers over 7'0'' may have difficulty fitting
in the pilot's seat. If you are uncertain, please contact us
and arrange to visit when the simulator is not in use to see how
well you fit inside.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes, there are chairs for two
“passengers” (ages 12 and up) in the back of the
simulator. Your guests will be able to see what you and the coach
are doing and look at the scenery outside the windscreen. We ask
that minors be accompanied by an adult other than the pilot. There
is no additional fee for spectators and you do not need to inform
us in advance.
Can I split my flight time with someone else?
Our Introductory and Thrill Flights
are not long enough for more than one person to take a turn as
pilot, but our Adventure and Ultimate Flights can be shared by
up to two pilots. If two members of your group want to fly,
sharing an Adventure Flight will be less expensive than booking
two separate Thrill Flights while giving you each nearly as
much flight time.
Is this a motion simulator?
This is a fixed-based simulator
so there is no motion. However, the 210° wrap-around screen
can give you the sensation of movement.
Can I get motion sickness from my experience?
Possibly. The simulator does not
move, but the scenery is projected onto a 210° wrap-around
screen, so there will be moving images in your peripheral vision.
Like driving a car, it is rare for the pilot to experience
motion sickness, but your “passengers” are more
likely to feel the effect. If you or anyone in your group is
prone to motion sickness, please tell one of our staff
members before your flight.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable pants or shorts
(dresses, skirts, and kilts are not recommended) with closed
flat shoes (high heels, sandals, and flip-flops are prohibited).
How can I purchase a flight package or gift voucher?
You can schedule your flight
experience or buy gift vouchers in person at our store, or
on-line through our reservation system. If you buy a voucher
on-line, you will have the opportunity to print it out at the
end of the transaction. If you have a promotional discount code,
be sure to tell our staff member or enter it on the checkout page!
What is your cancellation policy?
A minimum cancellation notice of
72 hours prior to your reservation date and time is required to
receive a full refund. Credit card purchases will be refunded
to the card used to make the purchase. Cancellations of a
reservation with less than 72 hours' advance notice are
non-refundable.
Do you allow barrel rolls?
We do not allow barrel rolls or other
extreme flight maneuvers. We strive for a realistic experience, and
the aircraft we simulate cannot safely do extreme maneuvers in real life.
